Easy Bible・Genesis 4
Genesis 4:1
Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man."
In Genesis 4, we learn about Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve. Cain was a farmer, and Abel was a shepherd. Both of them brought offerings to God, but God was pleased with Abel's offering of the best portions of his flock, while he did not accept Cain's offering of his crops. This made Cain very angry and jealous. God warned Cain to control his anger and do what is right, but Cain did not listen. Instead, he lured Abel out into a field and killed him out of jealousy. When God confronted Cain about Abel's blood, Cain denied any responsibility and tried to hide his guilt. As a consequence of his actions, God cursed Cain and made him a wanderer on the earth. Cain was afraid that others would harm him, so God put a mark on him to protect him. Despite his punishment, Cain went on to build a city and have children.
