About this Chapter

In Genesis 7, God tells Noah to enter the ark with his family and pairs of every kind of animal, male and female, to preserve them from the coming flood. Noah obeys God's command and after seven days, the floodwaters come upon the earth. The floodwaters cover the entire earth, even the highest mountains, and everything that had breath died. For forty days and forty nights, the rain poured down on the earth. Noah and his family, along with the animals in the ark, were kept safe by God's provision. The flood lasted for a total of one hundred and fifty days. Eventually, God remembered Noah and caused the waters to recede. Noah sends out a raven and a dove to find dry land. When the dove returns with an olive leaf, Noah knows that the waters have receded. Finally, God commands Noah and his family to leave the ark and to be fruitful and multiply on the earth.
