Genesis 12:1
The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
In Genesis 12, God calls Abram to leave his country, his people, and his father's household and go to the land that God will show him. God promises to make Abram into a great nation, bless him, make his name great, and bless all nations through him. This chapter marks the beginning of Abram's journey of faith. Abram obediently responds to God's call and leaves everything behind to follow God's leading. God's promise to bless Abram and make him into a great nation is the foundation of the Abrahamic covenant, which will be further developed in the following chapters of Genesis. Through Abram, God's plan of redemption for all nations is set in motion. Abram's descendants will become the nation of Israel, through whom God will reveal Himself and bring salvation to the world. This chapter highlights the faith and obedience of Abram, and it teaches us the importance of trusting and following God's call, even when it requires leaving our comfort zones and stepping into the unknown.
