Easy Bible・Genesis 19
Genesis 19:24
Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the LORD out of the heavens.
In Genesis 19, two angels arrived in Sodom and were welcomed by Lot, the nephew of Abraham. The men of the city, both young and old, surrounded Lot's house and demanded to have sexual relations with the angels. Lot, trying to protect his guests, offered his own daughters instead, but the men refused. The angels then struck the men with blindness and urged Lot to gather his family and flee the city before it was destroyed. As dawn approached, the angels urged Lot to hurry and escape with his wife and two daughters. However, Lot hesitated, so the angels took hold of his hand and brought him outside the city. They warned him not to look back, but Lot's wife couldn't resist and she turned into a pillar of salt. Then, the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah, completely destroying the cities and everyone living there. This story serves as a warning against the wickedness and immorality of Sodom and Gomorrah. It also highlights the righteousness of Lot, who was willing to protect his guests at any cost. Additionally, it shows the consequences of disobedience and the importance of following God's instructions without hesitation.
