About this Chapter

In Genesis 21, God fulfills His promise to Abraham and Sarah by giving them a son named Isaac. Sarah, who was previously barren, conceives and gives birth to Isaac in her old age. This is a miraculous event, as it was beyond human possibility for Sarah to have a child at her age. God's faithfulness is evident as He keeps His promise to Abraham and Sarah, showing that nothing is impossible for Him. The birth of Isaac brings great joy to Abraham and Sarah, and they celebrate this miracle. However, conflict arises between Sarah and Hagar, the mother of Abraham's other son Ishmael. Sarah becomes jealous and asks Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. Although Abraham is distressed by this request, God assures him that He will take care of Ishmael and make him into a great nation. Genesis 21 teaches us about God's faithfulness and His ability to fulfill His promises. It also reminds us that God's plans are not always easy to understand, but we can trust in His sovereignty and provision. Just as God blessed Abraham and Sarah with Isaac, He can also fulfill His promises in our lives, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
