Genesis 34:1
Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land.
In Genesis 34, we learn about Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah. Dinah went out to visit the women of the land, and Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, saw her, took her, and violated her. He then fell in love with Dinah and asked his father to arrange a marriage between them. Jacob heard about what happened to Dinah and his sons were furious. They deceived Shechem and his father, saying that they would give Dinah in marriage if all the men of their city were circumcised. Shechem and his father agreed, and on the third day after their circumcision, when the men were in pain, two of Dinah's brothers, Simeon and Levi, attacked and killed all the men of the city. Jacob was displeased with Simeon and Levi's actions because it brought trouble upon their family. But Simeon and Levi defended their actions, saying that they couldn't let their sister be treated like a prostitute. They took all the women, children, and possessions of the city as plunder. Although Jacob was concerned about the consequences of their actions, God did not punish them for what they did.
