Easy Bible・Genesis 48
Genesis 48:1
Some time later Joseph was told, "Your father is ill." So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim along with him.
In Genesis 48, Jacob is nearing the end of his life. Joseph brings his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, to Jacob so that he can bless them before he dies. Jacob adopts Joseph's two sons as his own, giving them an equal share in the inheritance with his other sons. However, he blesses Ephraim, the younger son, with the greater blessing, saying that his descendants will become a great nation. This chapter teaches us the importance of passing on blessings to the next generation and how God's plans can sometimes go against human expectations. Despite Manasseh being the firstborn, Jacob chose to bless Ephraim with the greater blessing, showing that God's favor is not always based on birth order or human traditions.
