About this Chapter

In Genesis 50, Joseph's father Jacob dies, and Joseph mourns for him. After Jacob's burial, Joseph's brothers become afraid that Joseph will take revenge on them for selling him into slavery. However, Joseph reassures them and tells them that what they meant for evil, God meant for good. He assures them that he will provide for them and their families. Joseph lives to the age of 110 and sees his great-grandchildren. Before his death, he tells his brothers that God will bring them out of Egypt and back to the land He promised to their ancestors. Joseph makes his brothers promise to carry his bones out of Egypt when God fulfills this promise. This chapter shows us Joseph's forgiveness towards his brothers and his recognition of God's providence in his life. Despite the hardships he faced, Joseph trusted in God's plan and used his position of power to provide for his family. It is a reminder that even in difficult circumstances, God can work all things together for good.
