Easy Bible・Exodus 4
Exodus 4:10
Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."
In Exodus 4, Moses expresses his doubts and concerns about his ability to speak effectively to the Israelites and to Pharaoh. He tells God that he is not eloquent and asks God to send someone else. God reassures Moses by reminding him that He is the one who made his mouth and promises to help him speak and teach him what to say. God also provides Moses with signs to perform in front of the Israelites and Pharaoh to demonstrate His power and authority. These signs include turning Moses' staff into a snake, making Moses' hand leprous and then healing it, and turning water from the Nile into blood. Through these signs, God shows Moses and the people that He is with them and will deliver them from Egypt. Despite God's assurances and signs, Moses still doubts his own abilities and asks God to send someone else. In response, God becomes angry with Moses but allows his brother Aaron to accompany him and speak on his behalf. God understands Moses' weaknesses and provides him with the support he needs to fulfill his mission.
