Easy Bible・Exodus 10
Exodus 10:12
And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts will swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail."
In this chapter, God sends the eighth plague upon Egypt, which is a plague of locusts. Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and warned him about the impending disaster, but Pharaoh refused to let the Israelites go. So, God commanded Moses to stretch out his hand over Egypt, and locusts came and covered the land. The locusts devoured all the vegetation and crops, leaving nothing behind. Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and he admitted his sin and asked for forgiveness. God removed the locusts, but Pharaoh still did not let the Israelites go. The plague of locusts was a devastating judgment upon Egypt. Locusts are destructive insects that consume everything in their path, and they brought complete devastation to the land. This plague served as a demonstration of God's power and authority over nature. It also served as a punishment for Pharaoh's refusal to obey God's command to let the Israelites go. Despite the devastation, Pharaoh's heart remained hardened, and he continued to resist God's will. This chapter teaches us about the consequences of disobedience and the importance of repentance. Pharaoh's stubbornness and refusal to obey God led to the suffering of his people and the destruction of their land. However, when Pharaoh finally acknowledged his sin and asked for forgiveness, God showed mercy and removed the plague. It reminds us that God is always ready to forgive and restore those who repent. It also serves as a warning to us to not harden our hearts and to respond obediently to God's commands.
