Exodus 17:6
I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, the Israelites continue their journey in the wilderness and face a new challenge: they have no water to drink. They grumble and complain to Moses, questioning why he brought them out of Egypt just to let them die of thirst. Moses cries out to God, who instructs him to strike a certain rock with his staff. When Moses obeys, water gushes out of the rock, providing enough for all the people and their livestock. This event serves as a reminder of God's faithfulness and provision for His people. Despite their grumbling and lack of faith, God shows His power and care by miraculously providing water in the desert. It also highlights the importance of obedience to God's instructions. When Moses strikes the rock as God commanded, water flows abundantly. This miracle demonstrates that God is able to meet all of His people's needs, even in the most challenging circumstances. As we reflect on this story, we are reminded of God's faithfulness in our own lives. Just as He provided water for the Israelites in the desert, He is able to provide for us in our times of need. We are also challenged to trust and obey God, even when we face difficult situations. Like Moses, let us seek God's guidance and follow His instructions, knowing that He is able to work miracles in our lives.
