About this Chapter

In Exodus 29, God instructs Moses on how to consecrate the priests for their service in the tabernacle. The process involves various offerings, anointing with oil, and the laying on of hands. These rituals are meant to set the priests apart and purify them for their sacred duties. The chapter begins with God commanding Moses to gather Aaron and his sons, along with the necessary offerings, at the entrance to the tent of meeting. The offerings include a young bull, two rams, unleavened bread, and cakes made with oil. These offerings are to be presented before the Lord as a way of dedicating the priests to Him. After the offerings are made, Moses is instructed to take some of the anointing oil and pour it on Aaron's head to consecrate him as the high priest. This anointing symbolizes the pouring out of God's Spirit upon Aaron, empowering him for his role. The same anointing is then applied to Aaron's sons, signifying their consecration as priests.
