About this Chapter

In Exodus 38, the Israelites built the altar of burnt offering according to the specifications given by God. It was made of acacia wood and covered with bronze. The altar was square, measuring five cubits in length, five cubits in width, and three cubits in height. It had horns on each of its four corners, and a bronze grating was placed inside the altar to hold the burnt offerings. The altar was then carried with poles and placed in the courtyard of the tabernacle. The altar of burnt offering was an important part of the tabernacle, where the Israelites offered sacrifices to God. It symbolized their surrender and dedication to God, as the burnt offerings were completely consumed by fire. The horns on the corners of the altar represented strength and power, and they were used for various purposes, such as applying blood for atonement and seeking refuge. The construction of the altar of burnt offering reminds us of the importance of worship and sacrifice in our relationship with God. Just as the Israelites offered their best to God, we are called to offer our lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Him. May we always remember the significance of worship and surrender in our walk with God.
