Leviticus 2:1
"'When someone brings a grain offering to the LORD, his offering is to be of fine flour. He is to pour oil on it, put incense on it
In this chapter, God instructs the Israelites on how to present grain offerings to Him. The grain offering could be made in the form of fine flour, unleavened cakes, or roasted grain. The offering was to be seasoned with salt and accompanied by oil and frankincense. However, leaven and honey were not to be included in the offering. The priests were to take a portion of the grain offering as a memorial portion and burn it on the altar, while the rest of the offering was given to the priests as their portion. The grain offering was a way for the Israelites to show their gratitude and devotion to God. It was a voluntary offering that could be given in addition to other sacrifices. By offering their grain to God, the Israelites acknowledged that all their blessings came from Him. The salt in the offering symbolized the covenant between God and His people, while the frankincense represented the pleasing aroma of their worship. This chapter reminds us that God desires not only our material possessions, but also our hearts and devotion. Just as the Israelites offered their grain to God, we are called to offer ourselves as living sacrifices to Him (Romans 12:1). Our offerings may not be in the form of grain, but they can be in the form of our time, talents, and resources. May we always remember to give our best to God and worship Him wholeheartedly.
