Easy Bible・Leviticus 5
Leviticus 5:17
"If a person sins and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD's commands, even though he does not know it, he is guilty and will be held responsible.
In Leviticus 5, God provides instructions for the guilt offering. If someone unintentionally sins by failing to testify about something they witnessed, touching something unclean, or making a careless oath, they are to bring a female lamb or goat as a sacrifice. If they cannot afford a lamb or goat, they can offer two turtledoves or two young pigeons. If they cannot afford birds, they can bring a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour as a sin offering. The priest will make atonement for their sin, and they will be forgiven. This chapter highlights the seriousness of unintentional sins and the need for repentance and reconciliation with God. It emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for our actions, even when they are unintentional. The guilt offering serves as a reminder that sin has consequences, but God provides a way for forgiveness and restoration. As Christians, we can learn from this chapter that God desires our hearts to be pure and our actions to align with His commands. When we unintentionally sin, we can seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ, who is the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. It is important to acknowledge our mistakes, seek reconciliation with God, and strive to live a life that honors Him.
