Leviticus 11:1
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
In Leviticus 11, God gives the Israelites instructions on what animals they can and cannot eat. He divides the animals into two categories: clean and unclean. The clean animals are those that have split hooves and chew the cud, while the unclean animals are those that do not meet these criteria. God tells the Israelites that they are not to eat any of the unclean animals, as they are considered detestable. God's commandments regarding clean and unclean animals were meant to set the Israelites apart from the surrounding nations and to teach them about holiness and obedience. By following these dietary laws, the Israelites were reminded of their unique relationship with God and their need to live in accordance with His commands. Although these dietary laws were specifically given to the Israelites in the Old Testament, they hold spiritual significance for Christians today. The clean and unclean animals can be seen as symbolic representations of what is pure and impure in God's sight. As believers, we are called to live holy and set-apart lives, avoiding anything that is spiritually unclean. While we are no longer bound by the dietary restrictions of the Old Testament, we can still learn from the principles behind them and strive to honor God in all aspects of our lives.
