Leviticus 23:1
The LORD said to Moses,
In Leviticus 23, God gives the Israelites instructions about the appointed festivals that they are to observe. These festivals include the Sabbath, the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Firstfruits, the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. Each festival has its own significance and purpose. The Sabbath is a day of rest and worship, a reminder of God's creation and deliverance. The Passover commemorates the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt. The Feast of Unleavened Bread symbolizes the removal of sin from their lives. The Feast of Firstfruits celebrates the beginning of the harvest season and acknowledges God as the provider of all good things. The Feast of Weeks, also known as Pentecost, is a time of thanksgiving for the wheat harvest and a reminder of the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai. The Feast of Trumpets announces the beginning of the Jewish civil year and calls the people to repentance. The Day of Atonement is a solemn day of fasting and repentance, where the high priest makes atonement for the sins of the people. The Feast of Tabernacles is a joyful celebration of God's provision and protection during the Israelites' time in the wilderness.
