Leviticus 27:1
The LORD said to Moses,

About this Chapter

In this chapter, God gives instructions to Moses regarding the value of vows and dedications made to Him. If someone makes a vow to dedicate a person to the Lord, they must assign a value to that person based on their age and gender. The value ranges from 5 to 60 shekels of silver for males and 3 to 30 shekels for females. Likewise, if someone makes a vow to dedicate an animal to the Lord, they must assign a value to it based on its age and quality. The value ranges from 1 to 20 shekels for clean animals and 3 to 10 shekels for unclean animals. If someone wants to redeem what they have dedicated to the Lord, they must add a fifth of its value to the redemption price. However, if it is a house or a field that has been dedicated to the Lord, it cannot be redeemed and it belongs to the priests. On the other hand, if someone dedicates a field that they have bought, the priest will determine its value based on the number of years until the Year of Jubilee, and the person can redeem it by paying the determined value. Lastly, the chapter concludes by stating that all the tithe of the land, whether it is seed from the ground or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord. If someone wants to redeem any of their tithe, they must add a fifth of its value to the redemption price. The tithe of the herds or flocks, on the other hand, cannot be redeemed and it is holy to the Lord.
