Numbers 18:20
The LORD said to Aaron, "You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites.
In Numbers 18, God speaks to Aaron, the high priest, and gives him and his family the responsibility of taking care of the tabernacle and performing the priestly duties. The Levites, who are from the tribe of Levi, are also given specific tasks related to the tabernacle. God tells Aaron that the priests and Levites will receive a portion of the offerings brought by the Israelites as their share, and they are not to have any inheritance of land like the other tribes. This is because the Lord is their inheritance. The priests are responsible for offering the sacrifices and presenting the offerings on behalf of the people. They are to take care of the holy items in the tabernacle and perform the duties of the sanctuary. The Levites, on the other hand, are to assist the priests in their tasks and take care of the surrounding area of the tabernacle. God emphasizes the importance of the priests and Levites carrying out their duties faithfully, warning them of the severe consequences if they fail to do so. He assures them that they will be blessed abundantly for their service and dedication. This chapter highlights the significance of the priesthood and the Levites in maintaining the holiness of the tabernacle and facilitating the worship of God's people.
