Easy Bible・Numbers 21
Numbers 21:4
They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;
In Numbers 21, the Israelites were once again complaining in the wilderness. They spoke against God and Moses, expressing their dissatisfaction with the manna and the lack of water. As a result, God sent venomous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died. Realizing their sin, the Israelites repented and asked Moses to pray for them. In response, God instructed Moses to make a bronze snake and put it on a pole. Anyone who looked at the bronze snake after being bitten would live. This bronze snake serves as a symbol of God's grace and healing. Just as the Israelites were saved from the deadly snake bites by looking at the bronze snake, we can be saved from the consequences of our sin through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself referred to this event, saying, 'Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.' (John 3:14-15, NIV)
