Numbers 24:17
"I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab, the skulls of all the sons of Sheth.
In Numbers 24, Balaam delivers his third message from God. In this message, Balaam prophesies about a star and a scepter. He says, 'I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel.' This prophecy is about a future ruler who will come from the Israelites. Balaam's prophecy refers to the Messiah, who is Jesus Christ. The star represents Jesus, who is the light of the world. The scepter symbolizes his authority and kingship. This prophecy foretells the coming of a great leader who will bring salvation and establish an everlasting kingdom. As believers, we can find hope and assurance in this prophecy. It reminds us of God's faithfulness and his plan to send a savior. Jesus fulfilled this prophecy by being born as the descendant of Jacob and establishing his kingdom through his death and resurrection. We can trust in Jesus as our ruler and find salvation through him.
