The daughters of Zelophehad, from the tribe of Manasseh, came forward to Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole assembly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. They explained that their father died in the wilderness and had no sons, so they asked for their father's inheritance to be given to them. Moses brought their case before the Lord, and the Lord confirmed that they were right. He instructed Moses to give the daughters of Zelophehad their father's inheritance. The Lord established a new law, stating that if a man dies without a son, his inheritance should pass to his daughters. This decision was significant because it ensured that the daughters of Zelophehad would not be left without a portion of the land. It also highlighted the importance of justice and fairness in the distribution of inheritance. God cares about the rights of individuals, regardless of their gender, and He ensures that justice is served.
