Easy Bible・Numbers 30
Numbers 30:2
When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.
In this chapter, God gives instructions regarding vows and oaths. He emphasizes the seriousness of making a vow and the importance of keeping it. God holds people accountable for the vows they make, whether it is a promise to the Lord or a commitment to another person. If a man makes a vow, he must fulfill it, and if a woman makes a vow while living in her father's house, her father has the authority to either confirm or nullify it. If a woman makes a vow after marriage, her husband has the authority to either confirm or nullify it. If a husband hears his wife's vow and remains silent, her vow stands. However, if he hears it and objects, her vow is nullified. These laws are put in place to ensure that vows are taken seriously and that people are held accountable for their commitments.
