Easy Bible・Deuteronomy 6
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
Deuteronomy 6 begins with the commandment to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. This is the greatest commandment given to the Israelites, emphasizing the importance of wholehearted devotion to God. The chapter then instructs the Israelites to teach these commandments diligently to their children, talking about them at all times - when they sit at home, walk along the road, lie down, and get up. The goal is to impress God's commandments on the hearts of the people and pass them on to future generations. Furthermore, the chapter warns against forgetting the Lord and turning to other gods. It emphasizes the importance of remembering God's faithfulness and the miracles He performed in bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. The Israelites are commanded to fear the Lord and serve Him alone.
