For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

About this Chapter

In Deuteronomy 7, God reminds the Israelites that they are His chosen people. He tells them that they are a holy nation, set apart for Him. God promises to bless them abundantly if they obey His commandments and follow His ways. God also warns the Israelites not to intermarry with the other nations in the land of Canaan. He explains that this is to prevent them from being influenced by the false gods and idolatry of those nations. God wants them to remain faithful to Him and worship only Him. The chapter concludes with God assuring the Israelites that He will drive out their enemies and give them victory in the battles they will face. He promises to deliver the Canaanites into their hands and give them possession of the land He had promised to their ancestors.
