Easy Bible・Deuteronomy 8
Deuteronomy 8:2
Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
In this chapter, Moses reminds the Israelites to remember the Lord their God and to not forget how He led them in the wilderness for forty years. He emphasizes that God humbled them, allowed them to hunger, and fed them with manna to teach them that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Moses warns the people not to become proud and think that their own power and ability have brought them wealth and success. Instead, they should remember that it is God who gives them the ability to produce wealth, and He does so to fulfill His covenant promise to their ancestors. Finally, Moses cautions the Israelites to be careful not to forget the Lord their God after they enter the promised land and enjoy its abundance. He urges them to remember that it is God who gives them the power to gain wealth, and they should always acknowledge and serve Him with grateful hearts.
