Deuteronomy 18:15
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Moses reminds the Israelites that they are not to practice the detestable customs of the nations around them. Instead, God will raise up a prophet like Moses from among their fellow Israelites, and they must listen to him. This prophet will speak on behalf of God and reveal His commands to the people. The Levites, who have no inheritance of their own, will be provided for by the offerings brought by the people. They are set apart to serve the Lord and minister to Him. They will receive a portion of the sacrifices and offerings as their inheritance. The people are warned against consulting mediums or practicing divination. These practices are detestable to the Lord, and He will drive out the nations who practice them. Instead, the people are to seek the Lord and listen to the prophet He will raise up.
