Easy Bible・Deuteronomy 23
Deuteronomy 23:1
No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 23 contains various laws regarding exclusion from the assembly of the Lord. The chapter begins by listing the people who are not allowed to enter the assembly, including those with physical deformities, those born out of wedlock, and those from certain nations. The chapter also talks about the exclusion of Ammonites and Moabites from the assembly because they did not welcome the Israelites with food and water when they came out of Egypt. However, it is important to note that this exclusion only applies to the men from these nations and not their descendants. Furthermore, the chapter discusses regulations regarding cleanliness and hygiene, such as the command to bury human waste outside the camp and to maintain cleanliness in the camp. It also emphasizes the importance of keeping one's vows and the seriousness of breaking them.
