Easy Bible・Deuteronomy 28
Deuteronomy 28:1
If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.
In Deuteronomy 28, Moses explains to the Israelites the blessings they will receive if they obey God's commands and the curses they will face if they disobey. He tells them that if they fully obey the Lord and carefully follow all His commands, they will be blessed in the city and in the country. They will be blessed with abundant crops, healthy livestock, and many children. They will be blessed when they come in and when they go out. However, if they do not obey the Lord and turn away from His commands, they will be cursed in the city and in the country. They will experience drought, crop failure, and diseases. Their enemies will defeat them, and they will suffer from oppression and injustice. They will be scattered among the nations and become a byword and a curse. This chapter serves as a reminder to the Israelites of the importance of obedience to God. It emphasizes the consequences of their choices and actions, both positive and negative. It is a call for them to choose obedience and experience the blessings of God's favor, rather than disobedience and the resulting curses.
