Easy Bible・Deuteronomy 29
Deuteronomy 29:1
These are the terms of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.
In Deuteronomy 29, Moses gathers all the Israelites to renew the covenant between them and God. He reminds them of all the miracles God had done for them during their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. Moses emphasizes that the covenant is not only with those who are present, but also with future generations. Moses warns the Israelites not to turn away from God and worship other gods, for it will bring disaster upon them and the land. He reminds them of the consequences they had witnessed in the past when they disobeyed God's commands. Despite knowing that the Israelites will eventually break the covenant, Moses still emphasizes the importance of remaining faithful to God. He encourages them to choose life by loving and obeying God, so that they may prosper and inherit the land God promised to their ancestors.
