Deuteronomy 30:19
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
In Deuteronomy 30, Moses addresses the Israelites, reminding them of the blessings and curses that come with obedience or disobedience to God's commands. He urges them to choose life by loving and obeying the Lord, so that they may live and prosper in the land that God has promised them. Moses emphasizes that the choice is not too difficult or beyond their reach. It is not in heaven or across the sea, but it is in their hearts and mouths to obey God. He assures them that God's commandments are not too hard to understand or obey; they are clear and accessible to everyone. Furthermore, Moses warns the Israelites of the consequences of disobedience. If they turn away from God and worship other gods, they will perish and be driven out of the land. However, if they repent and return to the Lord with all their heart and soul, God will restore their fortunes and gather them back from the nations where they have been scattered.
