Easy Bible・Joshua 10
Joshua 10:12
On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: "O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."
In this chapter, Joshua and the Israelites face a coalition of five Amorite kings who attack the city of Gibeon, which had made a treaty with Israel. Joshua leads the Israelite army to defend Gibeon and they are winning the battle. As the day comes to an end, Joshua prays to God for the sun to stand still, so that they can finish the battle. God listens to Joshua's prayer and causes the sun to stop in the middle of the sky for about a full day, giving the Israelites enough time to defeat their enemies. This event is a remarkable display of God's power and faithfulness to His people. It demonstrates that God is in control of nature and can intervene in miraculous ways to fulfill His purposes. Joshua's prayer also shows his deep faith and dependence on God. He believed that God could do the impossible and trusted in His help to achieve victory. The story of the sun standing still in Joshua 10 reminds us that nothing is too difficult for God. It encourages us to have faith in God's power and to seek His guidance and intervention in our lives. Just as God fought for the Israelites and gave them victory, He is also with us in our battles and can provide the strength and help we need. We can trust in His faithfulness and rely on His power to overcome any obstacle or challenge we may face.
