Joshua 12:7
These are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir (their lands Joshua gave as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel according to their tribal divisions-
Joshua 12 provides a detailed list of the kings that were defeated by Moses and Joshua as the Israelites entered the Promised Land. The chapter begins by mentioning the two kings, Sihon and Og, who were defeated on the east side of the Jordan River. Then it goes on to list the 31 kings who were defeated in the land of Canaan, including the kings of Jericho, Ai, Jerusalem, Hebron, and many others. The purpose of this list is to highlight the faithfulness and power of God in fulfilling His promise to give the land of Canaan to the Israelites. It serves as a reminder of how God fought for His people and gave them victory over their enemies. It also emphasizes the importance of obedience and trust in God's guidance, as it was through their obedience and reliance on God that the Israelites were able to conquer the land and defeat these mighty kings. As we read this chapter, we can be encouraged by the fact that the same God who fought for the Israelites is the same God who fights for us today. Just as He was faithful to His promises in the past, He will continue to be faithful in our lives as well. This chapter reminds us of the power and faithfulness of God, and it encourages us to trust Him in our own battles and challenges.
