About this Chapter

In this chapter, we learn about Gideon, who was chosen by God to be a judge over Israel. The Israelites had been oppressed by the Midianites for seven years, and they cried out to God for help. God sent a prophet to remind them of their disobedience and then appeared to Gideon, calling him to deliver Israel from the Midianites. However, Gideon was initially hesitant and doubted his ability to fulfill God's call. He questioned why God allowed the Israelites to suffer and asked for a sign to confirm that it was truly God speaking to him. God patiently reassured Gideon and performed two miraculous signs to confirm His presence and power. Through Gideon's story, we see that God can use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. Despite Gideon's doubts and fears, God patiently guided and empowered him to lead the Israelites to victory. This chapter reminds us that when God calls us, He equips us and empowers us to fulfill His purposes, even when we feel inadequate or unsure.
