Judges 13:2
A certain man of Zorah, named Manoah, from the clan of the Danites, had a wife who was sterile and remained childless.
In Judges 13, we learn about a woman who was unable to have children. An angel of the Lord appeared to her and told her that she would conceive and give birth to a son. This son was to be set apart as a Nazirite from birth, meaning that he would be dedicated to God and have certain restrictions placed on his life. The angel also instructed the woman and her husband to raise their son according to specific guidelines. He was not to drink wine or any other fermented drink, and he was not to eat anything unclean. The angel explained that their son would begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines. The woman told her husband about the visitation from the angel, and her husband prayed to the Lord for further guidance. The Lord heard his prayer and sent the angel back to confirm the instructions. The angel appeared again and reiterated what he had said before.
