Judges 18:1
In those days Israel had no king. And in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking a place of their own where they might settle, because they had not yet come into an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
The Danites, who had not yet received their allotted inheritance, were looking for a place to settle. Five men were chosen to explore the land and find a suitable location. As they traveled, they came to the house of Micah, where they recognized the Levite who had been serving as Micah's priest. They asked for God's guidance in their journey and the Levite assured them that God would be with them. Continuing their journey, the men found the city of Laish, which was peaceful and unsuspecting. They reported their findings to the rest of the Danites, who decided to take the city by force and settle there. Six hundred armed men were sent to capture the city and kill its inhabitants.
