About this Chapter

In this chapter, Naomi instructs Ruth to seek redemption from Boaz. She tells Ruth to go to the threshing floor where Boaz is working and uncover his feet while he is sleeping. Ruth follows Naomi's instructions and lies down at Boaz's feet. At midnight, Boaz wakes up and sees Ruth lying at his feet. He asks her who she is and she tells him that she is Ruth and asks him to spread his garment over her, for he is a kinsman-redeemer. Boaz praises Ruth for her kindness and loyalty, and promises to redeem her. Boaz assures Ruth that he will take care of the matter in the morning, but warns her to leave before anyone sees her, to avoid any scandal. Boaz gives Ruth six measures of barley as a sign of his commitment to redeem her and sends her back to Naomi.
