Ruth 4:13
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Boaz goes to the town gate to meet the guardian-redeemer and the elders of the town. He tells the guardian-redeemer about Naomi's property that needs to be redeemed and Ruth, the Moabite woman, who is to be married. The guardian-redeemer initially agrees to redeem the property but then realizes that it would jeopardize his own inheritance. So, he relinquishes his right to redeem the property and allows Boaz to do it. Boaz then announces his intention to marry Ruth and redeem the property in front of the witnesses at the town gate. Boaz and Ruth get married, and the Lord blesses them with a son. The women in the town congratulate Naomi, saying that Ruth has brought her joy and is better to her than seven sons. They name the child Obed, who becomes the father of Jesse, the father of David. This chapter highlights the faithfulness and kindness of Boaz, who is willing to redeem Naomi's property and marry Ruth, even though she is a foreigner. It also shows God's faithfulness in providing a son to carry on the family line and become an ancestor of King David. Through this story, we see how God works through ordinary people to accomplish His plans and bring about redemption.
