About this Chapter

In 1 Samuel 12, Samuel gives his farewell address to the Israelites, as he is getting old and appointing Saul as their king. He reminds them of his righteous leadership and calls on them to testify against him if he has done anything wrong. Samuel then recounts the history of the Israelites and how God had delivered them from their enemies. He warns the people not to turn away from God and to serve Him faithfully. Samuel emphasizes that if the Israelites obey God, they will be blessed, but if they disobey Him, they will face the consequences. He tells them that they have chosen a king for themselves, but they must still fear and serve the Lord. Samuel assures them that God will not abandon His people if they follow Him wholeheartedly. In the end, Samuel encourages the Israelites to trust in the Lord and not to turn away from Him. He assures them that God will not forsake them and urges them to serve Him with all their heart. Samuel's farewell address serves as a reminder for the Israelites to remain faithful to God and to always seek His guidance and protection.
