Easy Bible・1 Samuel 23
1 Samuel 23:2
he inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?" The LORD answered him, "Go, attack the Philistines and save Keilah."
In 1 Samuel 23, David heard that the Philistines were attacking the city of Keilah and stealing their threshing floors. So he inquired of the Lord, asking if he should go and attack the Philistines. The Lord told David to go and save Keilah. David's men were afraid because they were already on the run from King Saul, but David trusted in the Lord and went to fight the Philistines. He and his men defeated the Philistines, saved the people of Keilah, and took away their livestock. However, when Saul heard that David was in Keilah, he planned to attack the city and capture David. David knew about Saul's plan, so he asked the Lord if the people of Keilah would betray him to Saul. The Lord answered that they would indeed hand him over. So David and his men left Keilah and went into the wilderness.
