Easy Bible・2 Samuel 10
2 Samuel 10:12
Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight."
In this chapter, David hears that the king of the Ammonites has died, so he sends messengers to express his condolences. However, the Ammonite nobles suspect that David's intentions are not genuine and humiliate his messengers. As a result, David gathers his army and goes to war against the Ammonites and their allies. The Ammonites are defeated, and their allies flee in fear. This victory establishes David's reputation as a mighty warrior. This chapter teaches us the importance of showing kindness and respect, even to our enemies. David's initial intention was to express sympathy and offer comfort to the Ammonites, but their suspicion and disrespect led to a conflict. It also reminds us that God fights for His people and gives them victory in battles. As believers, we should strive to live in peace with others and seek reconciliation whenever possible. However, there are times when we may face opposition or conflict, and in those situations, we can trust in God's strength and guidance. Just as David trusted in God and won the battle against the Ammonites, we can have confidence that God is with us, fighting on our behalf.
