Easy Bible・2 Kings 7
2 Kings 7:1
Elisha said, "Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the LORD says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria."
In the midst of a severe famine in Samaria, Elisha prophesied that by the next day, there would be an abundance of food in the city. Four men with leprosy, who were at the city gate, decided to go to the Aramean camp, hoping for mercy or death. However, when they arrived, they found the camp deserted, with plenty of food, clothes, and valuable possessions left behind. The lepers ate and drank, then collected silver, gold, and clothes, hiding them for themselves. They realized that it was not right to keep the good news to themselves, so they went back to the city and informed the gatekeepers, who in turn told the king. The king was skeptical at first, but eventually sent men to investigate the Aramean camp and found everything just as the lepers had said. As a result, the people of Samaria rushed out and plundered the Aramean camp, fulfilling Elisha's prophecy. The famine ended, and the price of food dropped dramatically, just as the Lord had promised through His prophet.
