Easy Bible・1 Chronicles 11
1 Chronicles 11:1
All Israel came together to David at Hebron and said, "We are your own flesh and blood.
In this chapter, we see the account of David becoming the king over Israel. After the death of Saul, the people of Israel came to David at Hebron and anointed him as king. David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years. The chapter goes on to describe the mighty men who supported David and helped him establish his reign. The chapter highlights the valiant acts of a few of David's mighty men. One of them was Jashobeam, who was the chief of the officers. He killed three hundred men in one encounter with his spear. Another mighty man named Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines until his hand was too tired to lift his sword. These mighty men were loyal to David and played a crucial role in his rise to power. This chapter reminds us of the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His promises. God had chosen David to be the king over Israel, and He was with David every step of the way, granting him success in all that he did. David's rise to power was not by his own strength alone, but it was a result of God's favor and the support of his mighty men.
