1 Chronicles 13:14
The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.

About this Chapter

David gathered all the Israelites to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to Jerusalem. They put the ark on a new cart and Uzzah and Ahio were guiding it. As they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, the oxen stumbled and Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark. Then the Lord's anger burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So Uzzah died there before God. David was afraid of God that day and asked, 'How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?' So he did not take the ark with him to the City of David, but instead took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had. When David heard that the Lord had blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he had because of the ark of God, he went to bring the ark to Jerusalem with great rejoicing. They carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Obed-Edom and David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.
