Easy Bible・1 Chronicles 15
1 Chronicles 15:28
So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams' horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps.
After realizing their mistake of not consulting the Lord properly the first time, David gathered the Levites to bring the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to Jerusalem. They prepared themselves by consecrating themselves and offering sacrifices. David appointed singers and musicians to accompany the ark, and they played music with various instruments, praising God and celebrating joyfully. As the ark was being brought into the city, David and all the Israelites were filled with joy and excitement, dancing and playing music before the Lord. The Levites carried the ark on their shoulders using poles, as instructed by the Lord. They followed the proper procedures and offered sacrifices every six steps. David wore a linen ephod and led the procession, dancing and celebrating with all his might. Even Michal, Saul's daughter, looked down on David for his joyful and exuberant worship, but David remained undeterred, declaring that he would celebrate before the Lord with even more fervor. Bringing the ark to Jerusalem was a significant event for the Israelites. It symbolized the presence of God among them and marked a new era of worship and reverence. David's leadership in this process demonstrated his deep desire to honor and seek God's presence. It also serves as a reminder for us to approach worship with joy, reverence, and wholehearted devotion, celebrating the goodness and faithfulness of God in our lives.
