About this Chapter

In this chapter, we see David leading his army against the Philistines. During the battle, David's men killed several giants who were descendants of the giants of Gath. One of these giants, named Lahmi, had a spearhead that weighed 300 shekels. However, David's nephew, Jonathan, killed him. After the defeat of Lahmi, the Philistines fled, but they regrouped and attacked again. This time, another giant named Saph was killed by Sibbekai, one of David's men. The Philistines were once again defeated. The chapter concludes with another battle against the Philistines, where David's men killed a giant with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. This giant, named Ishbi-Benob, was also a descendant of the giants of Gath. David's brother, Shammah, killed him and the Philistines were finally defeated.
