About this Chapter

In 1 Chronicles 22, King David made extensive preparations for building the temple of the Lord. He gathered large quantities of materials such as cedar logs, iron, and bronze. He also gathered skilled workers, including stonecutters, masons, and carpenters. David explained to his son Solomon that the temple was to be built for the name of the Lord and that Solomon was chosen by God to build it. David encouraged Solomon, saying that he had made great preparations and that Solomon should be strong and courageous to do the work. David assured Solomon that God would be with him and that He would not fail or forsake him. David also instructed Solomon to seek the Lord and to obey His commands, so that he may prosper in all he does. David further instructed the leaders of Israel to support Solomon in building the temple. He urged them to consecrate themselves and to help Solomon with the work, for the Lord had chosen Solomon to build the temple. David's preparations and instructions laid the foundation for the construction of the magnificent temple that would honor and worship the Lord.
