Easy Bible・2 Chronicles 6
2 Chronicles 6:18
"But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
In this chapter, Solomon prays a long prayer of dedication for the newly built temple. He acknowledges that God cannot be contained in any physical building, but he asks that God's presence would dwell in the temple and that God would listen to the prayers of His people when they come to worship Him there. Solomon acknowledges that the temple is not the ultimate dwelling place of God, but he prays that God would honor His promise and bless the people of Israel when they come to the temple to seek His presence. He asks God to forgive their sins and to hear their prayers, showing His mercy and faithfulness. Solomon also prays for God's guidance and help in times of trouble. He asks that God would listen to the prayers of His people, even when they are in a distant land, and that He would forgive them and restore them when they turn back to Him. Solomon's prayer demonstrates his deep reverence for God and his desire for the temple to be a place of worship and communion with God.
