2 Chronicles 14:2
Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.

About this Chapter

In the early years of his reign, King Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord. He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. Asa commanded Judah to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his laws and commands. Asa's faithfulness to God was rewarded with peace and prosperity. He built up the fortified cities of Judah and experienced a time of rest and peace. Asa also had a strong army of 300,000 men from Judah armed with large shields and spears, and 280,000 men from Benjamin armed with small shields and bows. Because of their trust in the Lord, no one could withstand them. During this time, Asa encountered an Ethiopian army of a million men and 300 chariots. But Asa cried out to the Lord for help, putting his trust in Him. God answered Asa's prayer, and the Lord struck down the Cushites before Asa and his army. They were completely destroyed, and Asa and his men carried off a great amount of plunder.
