Easy Bible・2 Chronicles 16
2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war."
In his later years, Asa, the king of Judah, made an alliance with the king of Aram to fight against Baasha, the king of Israel. However, this decision displeased God, and a prophet named Hanani rebuked Asa, reminding him that in the past, when he relied on God, he experienced victory. Hanani declared that from now on, Asa would face wars. Instead of repenting and seeking God's help, Asa became angry with the prophet and put him in prison. Asa also oppressed some of the people. However, despite his stubbornness, Asa's feet became diseased, and his condition worsened. Yet, even in his illness, Asa did not seek God's help but relied on physicians. Asa's story serves as a warning for us not to rely on human alliances or our own strength but to trust in God alone. When we face difficulties, let us turn to Him in prayer and seek His guidance, knowing that He is the ultimate source of help and deliverance.
